Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is an interesting place to visit while spending time in Miami. The museum and gardens is great place to learn about art, interior design, architecture, landscape design, and horticulture all inspired by the Gilded Age. Its currently owned by Miami-Dade County which is available to the public 364 days out of the year.

This one of kind property in Miami used to be the former estate of International Harvester and businessman James Deering. He wintered on the property from 1916-1925 and helped inspire the development of the estate.

Vizcaya is located on Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove, Fl. and currently consists of 50 acres with the villa and estate including the native forest. The villa's museum a main house consisting of over seventy rooms of distinctive architectural interiors decorated with numerous antiques, with an emphasis on the 15th through early 19th century European decorative art and furnishings, ten acres of formal gardens, a rock land hammock (native forest), and soon-to-be-restored historic village.
